EALR Lunchtime Series: Dean Amy Gadsden on Civil Society Reform in China

Associate Dean for International Affairs Amy E. Gadsden will speak about her experience in and research on civil society reform in China. This will be an informal discussion, open to ideas and questions from students.
Amy Gadsden, a Senior Fellow with
Foreign Policy Research Institute, is Associate Dean and Executive Director of International Programs at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. From 2006-08, she also served as Resident Country Director for China at the International Republican Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing democracy worldwide, where she managed multiple development programs such as women's rights groups and migrant worker associations. From 2001-03, Dr. Gadsden was Special Advisor for China in the State Department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor where she helped to establish a multimillion-dollar grant program to support democracy, human rights and the rule of law in China. Among her other accomplishments is her consulting work for the UN Development Programme, the UN High Commissioner's Office for Human Rights, the Pew Charitable Trusts and the National Committee on US-China Relations.
